my dad's office was a stone's throw away from my school. i remember that during my elementary years my dad would drop-by school so the two of us could have lunch together within campus under our favorite acacia tree. way back then when i didn't know any better but to be the brat that i always was, i despised it because it took away the little time i had to do what kids do best, do mischievous things in school. there were a few times that i enjoyed his company though, it was whenever he brought take-out fastfood which wasn't very often. but more often than not, father-son lunches were not my thing. then came high school, then college, then my short stint working in the same university where i got my college degree. we never had those lunches again. even up to now.
i guess being father's day today, i get to realize and understand the bigger picture of the littlest things that dads do that we didn't learn to appreciate when we were kids. it's never too late to value the things in life that we didn't took notice of before and remembering father's day may be a good start of all this. and this goes not only to all dads, but to moms and other people who matter to us the most.
but for today, my greetings go to all fathers out there. have a good one!
i think it's been going on for a year now. after i switched to mac, i've always blogged using it and have not been using internet explorer as my browser. i never enjoyed using internet explorer anyway. it was only a few days ago that i realized something is not right when my blog is viewed on an internet explorer browser. the blog itself stalls during pageload hence the lightbox plug-in i installed will not initialize. it ruins anyone's blog viewing experience.
i never could understand why this would happen when all other browsers i have on my mac seem to be working fine-- firefox, safari and camino.
help! help me find a solution for this. this blog is simple enough that it should work across all platforms and browsers.

i'll always be glad i made the right choice to switch. it was exactly a year ago when i was a mere mac-wannabe and became a mac-owner. it was my very first mac portable computer. and life had never been the same since.
it has been a blissful year for me and fiona. there were lots of fun, learning and getting used to. but i can't discount the fact that there were trying times that made me doubt if it was all worth it. there were numerous times that i had to bring her in for checks, repairs and replacement of parts. the hardest part when the random shutdowns started and i had to wait for a heatsink replacement for four weeks. but amidst all these, i still keep an optimistic mind.
what better way to celebrate the first year? to get the extended warranty plan. with the AppleCare Protection Plan, i'm good to go for the next two years for parts and service. i can't see what troubles will come along my way but i know i'd have protection to rely on. and that will make me sleep better at night.
amidst all the hype we hear about apple, they didn't ever promise to come up with a perfect product. but it's nice to know that they're in the business to make it almost perfect. and that's good enough for me.
