when you thought the holiday revelry was over, here comes another one that is yet very close to the Filipinos' hearts: The Chinese New Year. having strong inter-cultural relations with the chinese that date back when the first filipinos traded with the first chinese merchants, they have come a long way as they have rose to become business tycoons (or gurus, should I say), rich and very much priviledged and looked upon. also note that they have been the favorite on the kidnapper's menu lately...but that's another topic for discussion if i feel like politicking.
so what am i trying to drive at?
that i wish every chinese and chinoys and pinoys feeling chinese to have a very happy and prosperous chinese new year!
pinoy.films
three distinct elements in a pinoy flick that will win awards (not necessarily all in one film but it's greatly possible):
1) mayroon sigawan - a great exchange of insulting words
2) mayroon awayan - a gallant display of strength and power among males, females or both
3) mayroon iyakan - to bring out the emotion in all of us and make us connect
can this get even better? aren't we tired of these formulas?
a new year can mirror so many things:
new life, new beginning, renewed hope.
as always, let us be ever mindful of things that we have done in the past, look into the things that we are doing now and focus on thing that we will be doing in the future. let the new year bring forth good things to everyone and all.
happy new year everyone!
