my dad's office was a stone's throw away from my school. i remember that during my elementary years my dad would drop-by school so the two of us could have lunch together within campus under our favorite acacia tree. way back then when i didn't know any better but to be the brat that i always was, i despised it because it took away the little time i had to do what kids do best, do mischievous things in school. there were a few times that i enjoyed his company though, it was whenever he brought take-out fastfood which wasn't very often. but more often than not, father-son lunches were not my thing. then came high school, then college, then my short stint working in the same university where i got my college degree. we never had those lunches again. even up to now.

i guess being father's day today, i get to realize and understand the bigger picture of the littlest things that dads do that we didn't learn to appreciate when we were kids. it's never too late to value the things in life that we didn't took notice of before and remembering father's day may be a good start of all this. and this goes not only to all dads, but to moms and other people who matter to us the most.
